One-year jail, LE30,000 fine to anyone who mocks Egyptian flag: Education Minister

Education Minister Tarek Shawki issued on Friday a general order on all of Egypt’s schools stipulating one-year jail time and a financial fine for anyone who mocks the Egyptian flag.

According to local reports, the Education Minister stressed that all schools should put the Egyptian flag in a prominent place during the morning queue and also warned against using the flag if it was tainted.

He stressed that any mocking of the Egyptian flag will be met with one-year jail time and a financial fine that does not exceed LE30,000.
