Pro-Mursi alliance calls for retribution rally

The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy (NCSL) has called on its supporters to rally on Friday under the banner of “Revolution until Victory” to demand retribution.

Retribution has become a recurring demand, the NCSL said in a statement on its Facebook page, urging Egyptians to uprise on a new “revolutionary week”.

The NCSL also emphasised that there shall be no reconciliation with “murderers”.

The state has “tortured” street vendors after exploitng their poverty to turn them into tools of repression, the statement added, referring to the recent campaign launched by security forces to move street vendors of downtown to the car park at Torgoman bus station on August 24.

The NCSL has also renewed its call for a partial strike on Saturday, in preparation for an anticipated “revolutionary success” of the “uprising of the poor” scheduled for September 9.

The coalition, which grouped all pro-Mursi Islamist alliances was established in June 2013 to back deposed President Mohamed Mursi. It has taken to calling for demonstrations on a weekly basis to protest what they called the “coup against legitimacy”, in reference to Mursi’s ouster from power last July.
