Prosecutor releases Ultras protesters on bail

An Egyptian prosecutor has ordered that 19 football enthusiasts belonging to the group Ultras Ahlawy be released on L.E. 2,000 bail.

The 19 defendants were ordered detained on Wednesday pending investigations into allegations they cut Salah Salem Road and disturbed traffic on Monday.

The protesters had rallied to demand the release of 25 other members of the group who were arrested in clashes that erupted at the Cairo Airport recently.

The interior ministry has accused Ultras members of provoking forces and raiding the airport and using fireworks among other things that resulted in injuries.
