Sabahi’s campaign seeks equal opportunity for presidential candidates

The electoral campaign of potential presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi has said it is communicating with officials at the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (Maspero) to demand equal opportunity for candidates to address the nation on television.

We have not determined yet the press conference at which Sabahi will officially announce his intention to run for presidency, said Ma’soum Marzouk, Sabahi’s campaign spokesman, in a statement on Friday.

Marzouk said that communication with Maspero is ongoing in order to give Sabahi an opportunity to address Egyptians just like Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi did.

In a televised statement, Sisi addressed the nation last Wednesday and declared his intention to enter the presidential race.

On Thursday, Sabahi’s electoral campaign welcomed Sisi’s presidential bid.
