Security alert in all security directorates

The presence of security forces intensified across governorates namely around security directorates, police installations and pivotal facilities following the blast targeted Cairo Security Directorate Friday early morning.

In Asyut, an official source of Asyut Security Directorate said that security forces cooperate with the military in securing the governorate’s facilities, adding police patrols and forces are combing the whole Asyut streets.

In Sharqia, all police officers and personnel were recalled and state of security alert was announced there, a high level security source in Sharqia Security Directorate said.

The source added that security services were intensified across the governorate especially after the Cairo explosion.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. at Suez Security Directorate Khalil Harb said that the state of security alert will include streets, significant squares, military and government installations and border roads.

Moreover, Qalyubia Security Directorate also declared the security alert in preparations to celebrate the third anniversary of the January 25 Revolution and National Police Day.

Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Youssry from the directorate said that “he ordered the security forces to intensify their presence at police stations and centers, in addition to pivotal installations like electricity, water and railway stations.”

Youssry added that police officers and personnel were pushed to secure main streets especially the agricultural road and prisons. The police forces’ mission is to provide security and safety to every citizen all the time, to make people feel the stability during the celebration of the police day and 25 Jan, he said.

In Sohag about 500 police officers and 10000 police personnel were assigned to secure pivotal and police installations, streets and checkpoints, according to Sohag Security Directorate manager Ibrahim Saber.

Saber added that all police stations and installations were outfitted with heavy weapons, adding forces got order of dealing harshly in case of any assaults. He clarified that officers from the civil defense were assigned to search for explosives periodically.

He further said that road and river rescue emergency units are on alert, adding the traffic services were intensified to follow up the fluidity of the traffic.

Meanwhile, Sohag Governor Mahmoud Atteq said that the explosion which targeted Cairo Security Directorate is “a cowardly act of terrorism.”

The governor added that the celebration of the third anniversary of the January 25 Revolution would be held on Saturday at the Culture Palace without any fears as the Sohag security apparatus has total control over the governorate.

“I will be the first one of who will attend the celebration tomorrow and I am not afraid of death,” he said.

In Damietta, manger of security directorate Abu Bakr el-Hadidy said that such “despicable terroristic acts” targeting police personnel and its installations on their national day would not make them forget filling their role in protecting Egypt and its people.

“Such acts will increase police personnel power and will make them more determined to prosecute the nests of terrorism,” Hadidy added. He called all sons of Damietta to cooperate with police apparatus and to notify about any suspected objects or unfamiliar gatherings.
