Shots fired at Israeli troops near Egypt border: Haaretz

Shots were fired from Egyptian territory towards Israeli troops across the border, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported on Monday.

No injuries were reported.

A rising Islamist insurgency in the border Sinai Peninsula has increasingly targeted police and army, killing tens of Egyptian policemen and army soldiers.

Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, an Islamist militant group, has claimed responsibility for several attacks on security forces.
