Sound bomb goes off outside Egyptian Media City

A sound bomb went off on Friday outside the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC) in 6 of October City on the outskirts of Cairo, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

The production city, covering an area of 35 million square metres, is an information and media complex where most Egyptian channels are aired from.

Several improvised and sound bombs in the past months have been reported to go off near the area.

An official from inside the media city said that the bomb went off outside the complex and that all the channels are operating normally.

In April, EMPC witnessed a power cut that led to several TV channels going off air due to attacks on electricity pylons.
