The armed forces have killed a suspected suicide bomber on the Katameya-Suez road, the army announced on Wednesday.
He was on his way to a military base to detonate the bomb, the statement added.
Egypt’s army has been fighting a decade-long militant insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula that has spiked since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
Attacks have mostly targeted army and police personnel.
