Tamarod considers creating political party

TamThe Tamarod (Rebel) movement that organized mass demonstrations that toppled President Mohamed Mursi in July might create a political party, its founder said.

Mahmoud Badr told the Kuwaiti al-Watan newspaper that Tamarod is thinking about turning itself into a political party to avoid the illegal fate of the Muslim Brotherhood.

A court banned all of the Brotherhood’s activities last week and closed down its newspaper, returning the group into an illegal organization as it was before the Jan. 25 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak.

Badr is a member of the constituent assembly amending Egypt’s suspended constitution.
