Tourists feel safe in Egypt: Russian tour operators

Calm prevails in Egypt’s tourist areas that is why tourists never leave before the end of their vacation, said Executive Director of the Russian Association of Tour Operators Maya Lomidze.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Lomidze said no Russian tourists have expressed desire to return home because they know everything is alright.

She said an extremist group called Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis has warned tourists from staying in Egypt after Thursday and threatened to attack those who remain in the country after the ultimatum, RIA Novosti reported.

According to available information, no tourists have left Egypt after the warning, she said.

She had said earlier that there are 35,000 Russian tourists in Egypt at present.
