Two civilians and one policeman have been injured in a shooting carried out by unknown assailants in Port Said’s Hay El-Zohour district early Saturday.
The injured policeman is in critical condition, suffering bullet wounds to his chest and stomach, reported the Middle East News Agency (MENA). Investigations to determine the identity of the assailants are ongoing.
Attacks on security personnel across Egypt have notably increased since the violent crackdown in August on two Islamist sit-ins in Cairo and Giza, which left hundreds dead.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, 121 policemen have been killed since the sit-in dispersals.
