Two killed, 5 injured as two families fight over bread queues

Two people were killed and five others were injured on Saturday in a gunfight between two families in Akhmim, Sohag, after a dispute over their turn in a bread queue at a bakery.

Police moved to the scene to end the clashes.

Dead bodies and wounded victims were carried to the town’s central hospital.

Subsidized bread is a vital commodity for the Egyptian population.

The state pays more than LE30 billion in subsidies for bread and staple comodities.
