Unknown armed men shot two soldiers of the security forces on Wednesday near Nakhas village in Sharqia governorate, killing one of them.
A medical source at Zagazig Hospital told Youm7 that both soldiers were shot in the head as they were on their way home.
Moreover, security sources from Sharqia Security Directorate told Youm7 that armed men on a motorcycle attempted to penetrate the barrier in front of the directorate and started shooting security forces. As security forces returned fired, the attackers retreated and managed to escape.
Over the past days Sharqia governorate, northeast of Cairo, has witnessed five more attacks on police and army forces, in most cases by gunmen shooting from motorcycles. The attacks resulted in the death of three security force soldiers and injuring two other, including an army officer.
The first attack occurred on Jan. 29, when a police soldier was fatally shot in front of the Hehia police station. On Feb. 3, gunmen at a motorcycle shot an army officer on his way home from the Minya al-Kamah police station. Another soldier was transported to Al-Ahrar General Hospital after being injured in a firefight in front of Al Salheya police station.
On Tuesday Feb. 4, gunmen shot a police solider in Bradeen village, which resulted in his immediate death. On the same day, Shaaban Hussein Selim, a police soldier of Abu Keber police station was killed on his way to work by unknown armed men riding a motorcycle.
