Central Security forces in Aswan thwarted an attempt of a number of supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi to raid the province’s security office on Sunday. Security sources said that Mursi’s supporters were trying to free suspects accused of attacking policemen during last month’s dispersal of a sit-in in the governorate. The security forces fired live rounds and teargas to stop the raid attempt and disperse the rallying supporters. Aswan’s security director, Hassan al-Sohagy, said that the total number of those arrested in August’s attack on police is 25. Confrontations erupted between security forces and Mursi’s supporters near Aswan’s security headquarters in August where Mursi’s supporters attacked security forces, stripped them off their clothes, beat them and set ablaze seven of their trucks.
