A number of explosions took place in different governorates overnight and during the early hours of Thursday.
A bomb went off in the Manial district outside the headquarters of cell phone operator Mobinil Thursday causing damage to the company’s façade and destroying four cars nearby.
According to Youm7, no injuries have yet been reported after the bombing.
Assailants previously attacked Mobinil branches; the latest was on Haram Street last month. These attacks come amid daily violence hitting public services and security installations across Egypt. Also, the branches of American fast-food restaurant Kentucky have been an unlikely yet repeated, target by assailants.
Around midnight Wednesday, Kasr el-Ainy St. in downtown was re-opened after being closed following a two-bomb explosion outside Barclays Bank in the area surrounding Cabinet headquarters.
Civil protection forces deployed in the site and bomb squad combed the area.
A suspect was arrested for allegedly partaking in the explosion, a security source told Youm7 that forces chased the accused arrested him after witnessing him toss the bomb near the bank.
Another explosion took place Thursday outside Abu Kabir Court in Sharqiah governorate, which has been inaugurated last week by the Minister of Justice Saber Mahfouz. It left no injuries, but did cause damage to the first and second floors of the court.
Increased security measures have been implemented across the country to confront violence acts targeting police and army personnel and installations, as well as public services.
As part of the security plan of the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC,) which is due to begin Friday and last until Sunday, security forces are deployed in Sharm el-Sheikh city, where the summit will be hosted.
