Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in Cairo Wednesday for talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sedki Sobhi and other Egyptian officials, state-run MENA news agency reported.
The officials will discuss boosting military cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Egypt and Russia have been stepping up military cooperation in recent years.
The latest meeting between the two defence ministers took place in Cairo in August.
