Sound bomb causes panic outside Hurghada army facility

Civil defense agents in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada defused an electrically-operated sound bomb, found near the walls of a military zone, causing a loud explosive sound.

The bomb, found near the privately-run Red Sea Hospital, reportedly spread panic among citizens with a loud piercing sound it emanated, which experts said is merely designed for intimidation.

Security has been struggling against a series of bomb attacks claimed by Islamist extremist groups since the army toppled Egypt’s first democractically elected president, Mohamed Morsy, from power last year.
